Thank you for your interest in volunteer positions at Grand View Health.

Studies show that volunteering promotes physical and mental health, provides a sense of purpose, fosters social interactions and brings happiness. In fact, Aristotle is quoted as saying, “The essence of life is to serve others and do good.”

At Grand View Health, volunteers play an essential role in assisting our patients, families, staff and community members.

Adult volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and are scheduled to volunteer at least three-to-four hours once a week, with a commitment of at least 50 hours of service over a six-month period.

The Junior Volunteer Program is on hold for 2022.

Junior volunteers must be 14 years of age as of January 1 and currently be attending high school. Junior volunteers are scheduled to volunteer at least three-to-four hours once a week, with a commitment of at least 20 hours of service between June and August.

The process to become an active volunteer is as follows:

  1. Attend an information meeting / group review.
  2. Provide proof of the following vaccinations or titers showing immunity:
    • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
    • Varicella (chicken pox)
    • Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis)
    • TB screening
    • COVID-19
    • Influenza during flu season
    • Completion of a Health Assessment / Physical if volunteering in the Children’s Center
  1. Obtain background clearances:
    (Grand View covers the cost of obtaining these clearances. Grand View will submit the required PA criminal clearance)
    • Pennsylvania Child Abuse
    • FBI fingerprinting

For Junior volunteers, a parent or guardian’s authorization is required for Grand View to obtain the PA criminal background check.

  1. Submit three (3) non-family references.
  2. Completion of the following forms:
    • Health Insurance and Medical Treatment Agreement
    • Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement
    • Acknowledgement of Receipt of Handbook
    • Volunteer Orientation Assessment
  1. Complete Volunteer Orientation (Assessment for the orientation is one of the forms to be completed), and
    department specific training.

When your application is received you will be invited to attend an information meeting / group interview which is mandatory to attend.
