The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department at Grand View Health provides customized therapy services for adults and adolescents who are experiencing pain and immobility as a result of injury or disease. Our team of experienced physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists, work together to engage, educate and encourage patients on the road to recovery.

Whether you are struggling with an injury from work or sports, or suffering from impaired speech after a stroke, we will provide care and support to fit your needs. Our physical medicine and rehabilitation therapists are licensed professionals experienced in the examination and treatment of problems that affect movement and function.

Physical Therapy

For many people, physical therapy is a major part of the rehabilitation process. The primary goal of our physical therapists is to restore mobility, flexibility and strength while managing and reducing pain. They do this by offering:

  • Traditional physical therapy interventions addressing orthopaedic and neurologic impairments
  • McKenzie-based mechanical diagnosis and treatment of the spine
  • Vestibular and post-concussion rehabilitation
  • Sports injury rehabilitation
  • Chronic pain management
  • Lymphedema therapy
  • Cancer rehabilitation

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists treat injured, ill or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities to develop and improve the skills needed for work and day-to-day tasks. Services include:

  • Traditional occupational therapy services addressing impairments in activities of daily living
  • Certified hand therapy
  • Post-concussion rehabilitation
  • Ergonomic assessments
  • Lymphedema therapy

Speech-Language Pathology

Our speech and language pathologists are professionally trained to diagnose and treat patients with speech, voice, language or swallowing disorders. We offer the following services:

  • Evaluation and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders, such as impaired speech after a stroke or difficulty eating or swallowing foods and liquids
  • Video fluoroscopic swallowing examinations
  • Cognitive rehabilitation
  • Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (Parkinson’s disease)

Starting Care

A physician prescription is needed for all therapy evaluations and treatments. Please bring the prescription with you to your first appointment.
