Doug Hughes, RN, BSN, MBA, President and CEO, Grand View Health (far left) and Robert Pritchard, JD, CPA, Chair, Grand View Hospital Board of Trustees (far right), accept a $171,000 gift from Barb Matkowski, Grand View Hospital Auxiliary Treasurer, and Penny Markley, Auxiliary Assistant Treasurer.

As the largest expansion in the 109-year history of Grand View Hospital takes shape, the Grand View Hospital Auxiliary presented the Grand View Health Foundation with a $171,000 gift. The funds will support the Auxiliary’s $600,000 pledge toward the new six-story, 190,000-square-foot hospital pavilion that’s scheduled to open next July. Total fundraising by the Auxiliary for the year totals $185,000 which includes $14,000 for Breast Cancer Services, raised at this year’s Designer Bag Bingo event.

The Auxiliary hosts a variety of fundraising activities each year, including longstanding and beloved traditions such as the 49th Annual Golf Tournament, which is set for Aug. 15 this year, and the Annual Festival of Lights holiday celebration, which will mark its 39th year on Dec. 7, 2022.

The Auxiliary also operates the Recovery Room Thrift Shop and Gift Shop on the hospital campus.

Other items of note from the Auxiliary Annual Meeting:

  • Debbie Horne of Perkasie was named Auxilian of the Year. Horne joined the Auxiliary in 2021 and currently serves as the Recording Secretary.
  • Two new Board officers, Treasurer Barbara Matkowski and Corresponding Secretary Irene Roberts, were installed.

The Auxiliary supports Grand View’s efforts throughout the community by raising funds to ensure the hospital is able to continue its mission of leading our community to a healthier future. For more information on the Auxiliary and how to participate, call 215-453-4381 or visit gvh.org/auxiliary.
