Breastfeeding: 3 Simple Tips for Expecting Moms

August 8th, 2022  Topics: OB/GYN

Whether you’re weeks away or months away from your baby’s delivery, it’s never too early to start thinking about your newborn’s health and wellbeing. If you’re considering breastfeeding, these three simple tips can help you prepare now:

  1. Attend a Breastfeeding ABC’s webinar. Led by a certified lactation consultant, this free webinar will help you explore the many benefits of breastfeeding, learn proper breastfeeding techniques and discover how you can incorporate breastfeeding into your lifestyle. It’s free. Sign up now for our session on Aug. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
  2. Be patient. Breastfeeding is a learned skill. That means it takes time to get it right. National estimates show that it takes between four-to-six weeks to get well-established.
  3. Start forming your ‘breastfeeding squad.’ Identify people you know who understand your goals and can give you encouragement. Your squad may include your spouse, other breastfeeding moms, your OB/GYN, a certified lactation consultant or an in-person or online support group.
