Grand View Hospice, a service which provides end-of-life care in the hospital, at skilled nursing facilities and inside patients’ homes, has been named the recipient of a 2023 Hospice CAHPS Honors Award by HEALTHCAREfirst.
This prestigious annual review recognizes hospice agencies that continuously provide positive patient and caregiver experiences and high-quality care. It acknowledges the highest performing agencies based on their performance on the Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey satisfaction and quality measures.
“For more than 40 years, our empathetic and compassionate team at Grand View Hospice has helped make the end-of-life transition as comfortable as possible for tens of thousands of people in our community,” said Douglas Hughes, MSN, BSN, RN, President and Chief Executive Officer at Grand View Health. “It fills me with pride to see this incredible team honored for the amazing and selfless work they do every day.”
Grand View Hospice focuses on making patients as comfortable as possible while meeting their emotional, spiritual and social needs. The Grand View Hospice team includes nearly four dozen professionals, from registered nurses and aides who provide direct patient care to chaplains, social workers, bereavement counselors and a reflexologist, each of whom provide support and healing. The hospice staff is supported by about 100 volunteers who sit with patients, hold their hands, and provide services like music therapy and pet therapy.
To be considered for the Hospice CAHPS Honors Award, an agency must score above the HEALTHCAREfirst National Performance Score on the Hospice CAHPS Willingness to Recommend question. If that criteria is met, performance is evaluated using a set of 23 additional quality indicator measures. These scores are then compared on a question-by-question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in HEALTHCAREfirst’s Hospice CAHPS database.
“We began our Annual Hospice Honors Award program more than 10 years ago as a way to highlight those agencies that are truly leading the way in providing and demonstrating quality patient care,” said Ronda Howard, Vice President of Revenue Cycle and CAHPS at HEALTHCAREfirst. “We congratulate Grand View Hospice on this recognition and are so proud and honored that they have chosen to partner with us in helping drive success for their agency.
