During the first high school football game of 2020 against rival Quakertown High School, Jalen White, senior running back for Souderton High School, sustained a hand injury. Athletic training staff and Steven Casey, MD, with Upper Bucks Orthopaedics at Grand View Health, tended to him on the field.

White suffered a dislocated thumb that required follow-up in the Grand View Hospital Emergency Department later that evening. Peter Wang Jr., MD, with Upper Bucks Orthopedics at Grand View Health, performed surgery on White that night, while Grand View Health occupational therapists braced his thumb.

White returned to football the following week, running for two touchdowns (including an 82 yarder) to defeat Upper Dublin High School.

Tonight, White will continue his comeback story when Souderton plays Pennridge High School for the PIAA District One Class 6A title.
