The new Grand View Health Orthopaedic Center in Colmar will include new technology to help patients safely return to play and other activities after a concussion.
The Balance System SD™ by Biodex offers both static and dynamic balance assessment and conditioning. Used to assess a person’s balance, the system brings together best practices for concussion management. It compares baseline data to post-injury performance, helping athletes know when it’s safe to return to play.
The system also includes high-repetition balance training videogames designed to help people resume their activities of daily living.
In addition to concussion management, Grand View’s Physical Therapy team will use the Balance System SD™ to perform:
- Fall risk assessments (in just two minutes!)
- Balance assessments for people with conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and peripheral neuropathy
- Stroke recovery
- Senior rehabilitation
- Balance disorders
