When it Comes to Weight Loss, Choices Matter

April 17th, 2020

By Megan Zakarewicz, DO, Grand View Health Medical Weight Loss

The Grand View Health Medical Weight Loss program is built on four pillars—nutrition, physical activity, changing behaviors and consideration of chronic medical conditions. Today, I’d like to touch on a very important component of changing behaviors: choices.

Choices play a role in everything we do. Choosing to stay home to keep others safe during the COVID-19 pandemic is, of course, a wise choice. Each choice we make—big and small—defines us. You are free to make your own choices, but you aren’t free from the consequences of those choices.

The other day, while standing in my kitchen deciding on an afternoon snack, I was confronted with a choice: healthy fruit vs. unhealthy candy. It might seem small, but keep in mind that our lives are the sum of our choices. Try to make the healthiest decision one choice at a time and you will be on the road to achieving the best version of yourself.
