Special Donation from Willow Dale Elementary Brings Joy to Pediatric Patients

May 29th, 2014

Students in Maria Mahaffey’s fifth grade class at Willow Dale Elementary School recently donated 20 Build-A-Bears to the pediatric care unit at Grand View Hospital.

Mahaffey, a fifth grade teacher at Willow Dale, commented, “We are very excited to be able to make kids a little more happy while they are in the hospital.”

Mahaffey’s reading class wrote letters to companies earlier this year and received donations. In addition, they were awarded a grant that allowed them to purchase the bears. The students met Mahaffey at a local mall to create the bears for sick children.
