Medical Weight Loss

Losing weight, and keeping it off, is a lifelong struggle for many of us. When you’re ready for a fresh start, turn to the Weight Management Program at Grand View Health.

Weight-loss Without Surgery

If you’re trying to lose weight and establish a long-term wellness regimen, our medical weight-loss program can help with proven, effective tools that will change what you see in the mirror and change your life. Your journey to weight-loss and wellness begins with a complete health history and physical examination and a review of your eating habits, food preferences and lifestyle. From there, we’ll talk about about your goals and then develop a plan customized just for you.

Grand View’s medical weight-loss program is led by an experienced, specially trained physician and certified physician called a bariatrician. Your weight-loss program may include any combination of diet, exercise, behavior modification and medication.

Diet and Nutrition

We are pleased to offer a variety of options based on your specific dietary needs and preferences. While our goal is to help you develop positive habits based on everyday traditional foods, depending on your current health and weight-loss goals, meal replacements may be a part of your plan. Other available options include:

  • A balanced macronutrient plan
  • A ketogenic plan
  • A plant-based protein plan
  • A high protein plan

If all this sounds a little scientific, don’t worry. We’ll help you understand the pros and cons of each one so that you can decide what works best for you.

Physical Activity

Evidence shows that people who exercise regularly are most successful at losing weight and keeping it off. We’ll work with you to develop a specific plan with measurable, achievable goals as you transition to a healthier lifestyle.

Grand View Health has a special program for patients enrolled with our weight management programs called Lifestyle Fitness. Participants pay a modest monthly fee for this program which is supervised by registered nurses and exercise physiologists.

Behavioral Modification

Following your initial visit, one-on-one counseling and other tools will help you identify and modify your food and lifestyle choices. Identifying high-risk situations, understanding your “triggers” and developing coping strategies will help you sustain long term success when managing your weight.

Medication

Depending on your overall health and medical conditions, you may be a candidate for anti-obesity medications to assist with weight-loss and weight maintenance. If medication is determined to be appropriate, we will provide consistent monitoring to assure the medication is contributing to your success.

Insurance

We participate with many insurance plans. Check with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage to participate in a medical weight-loss program. If required, please get a referral from your primary care physician. Many insurance carriers require a BMI (body mass index) of 30 or greater to participate in a medical weight-loss program. We do offer a self-pay model for patients who do not have insurance coverage. If you are a self-pay client, please note we can accept you into the program with a BMI as low as 25.

Depending on your weight, health and overall goals, many clients participate in the program for 6 months to a year to achieve long term, sustained successful weight-loss.
