Grand View Auxiliary Presents $126,500 Gift to Support the This is Us Together Capital Campaign

June 6th, 2024

The Grand View Auxiliary today presented a gift of $126,500 to Grand View Health. The check was presented at the Auxiliary’s year-end meeting to President and CEO Douglas Hughes and Robert Loughery, Chair, Grand View Health Board of Trustees.

The $126,500 gift is part of a $600,000 commitment from the Auxiliary to the This is Us Together capital campaign.

Earlier this month, Grand View Health’s Breast Cancer Support Services received an $18,500 gift from the Auxiliary, proceeds from the group’s annual Designer Bag Bingo event.

“We were delighted with the turnout for Designer Bag Bingo again this year,” said Barbara Matkowski, co-chair of the event. “This event strengthens every part of our care for people with cancer, benefitting our breast cancer care team, cancer survivors in our region, community partners and Grand View Health employees.”

Additional items of note from the Auxiliary’s year-end meeting:

  • Patricia Benner received the Auxilian of the Year Award. Pat is known as the “energizer bunny” in the Thrift Shop. Her dedication is unwavering. She willingly volunteers her time two days a week and is always willing to work extra days as needed. Everyone is grateful for Pat’s consistent support.
  • The following officers were reinstated for a new term:
    • Irene Roberts, Corresponding Secretary
    • Barbara Matkowski, Treasurer

The Auxiliary supports Grand View Health’s efforts throughout the community by raising funds to ensure the hospital continues its mission of leading our community to a healthier future. Upcoming events include the 51st Annual Golf Tournament, set for Monday, Aug. 5, and the 41st Annual Festival of Lights, set for Wednesday, Dec. 4.
