The Care at Grand View is the Best Kept Secret – Tina Hutnyk

May 3rd, 2019

When Tina Hutnyk found a lump in her breast during a self-exam in May 2017, her stomach dropped. A single mom of two teenagers, Tina thought there was no way she could actually have breast cancer. But she knew she needed to get checked by her doctor to be sure. When the tests confirmed she had stage 2B breast cancer, Tina was stunned. “I was devastated and I wondered how I could possibly get through this,” she remembers.

Ultimately, Tina, a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner at Grand View OB/GYN Associates, chose to be cared for at Grand View. “I think the care available at Grand View is the best kept secret,” she says. “The care is as exceptional, if not better than, a big facility. You don’t feel like a number at Grand View, you feel like a person.”

Receiving care close to home made it easier for Tina to be there for her children through eight rounds of chemotherapy over the course of four months and a double mastectomy. “The coordination of care was amazing,” she says. “They did everything I needed right at Grand View.”

Monique Gary, DO, Medical Director of Grand View Health’s Oncology Program, says Grand View is dedicated to exceptional care close to home. That means caring for the whole patient. A cancer diagnosis can impact every aspect of a person’s life. Grand View aims to ease the burden with support groups, nutrition experts, financial navigators and more.

“We treat patients like family,” Dr. Gary says. “Every single doctor at Grand View takes that approach. We are a small community and we make sure we do the very best for our patients with unparalleled care and compassion.”

Today Tina is cancer free and glad she chose Grand View to see her through one of the toughest challenges of her life. ““They were thorough, kind and caring,” she says. “The support was amazing.”
