On Thursday, September 11, Grand View Hospital unveiled its new progressive care unit.
This expansion forms a fourth nursing unit for the Progressive Care Unit. The addition creates a total of 49 private Progressive Care beds as well as 12 semi-private beds. Along with the rest of the Progressive Care Unit, this new nursing unit features state-of-the-art technology. Our innovative patient monitoring and information systems support decision making and improve patient care by providing immediate access to comprehensive patient information and data. Sophisticated high-performance cardiac monitors carry vital information to clinicians in real time while also allowing total patient mobility.
The newly-designed unit features:
- 16 all new, private rooms with an “at home” atmosphere including private bathroom facilities, large screen TVs, soothing dècor and ample space for visiting families, including convertible sofa beds for overnight stays in most rooms
- Computer workstations outside each room, allowing staff to immediately access records and update patient data
- Two negative pressure isolation rooms with advanced ventilation systems
- One bariatric room featuring wider doorways, furniture and bathroom facilities and an overhead patient lift
