The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), released its ratings of hospitals’ quality on the Hospital Compare website December 21, 2017. Grand View Health was one of only seven hospitals in the Philadelphia region to receive a five-star rating for overall quality and one of only two hospitals locally to achieve the highest CMS rating.
“Grand View Health is honored to be recognized with five stars for overall quality from CMS’ Hospital Compare. It takes a lot of effort on everyone’s part to achieve excellence in so many areas from patient experience to effectiveness of care to efficient use of medical imaging and more. Our physicians’ and other caregivers’ focus on providing excellent care to benefit our patients. Exceptional outcomes and great patient experiences are the most gratifying validation of our work,” said Jane Ferry, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Grand View Health.
The CMS Hospital Compare rating system was established in 2015 to help consumers make sense of overall quality information when choosing a hospital. CMS uses publicly reported data to evaluate hospitals across seven areas. The overall rating incorporates outcomes data and patient experience data to arrive at the overall hospital quality rating. The ratings are updated each July and December. Only 7.36% of hospitals nationwide were rated as five-star hospitals.
“We are so proud to be among the nation’s elite hospitals with five-stars for overall quality. We fulfill our mission in the community when we demonstrate high performance in these critical areas. I applaud the efforts of our medical staff, our nurses and all our GVH caregivers in providing safe, efficient and effective quality care on a consistent basis,” said Jean M. Keeler, JD, president and Chief Executive Officer.
