Grand View Health Volunteer Services presented the 2016 Maybelle Peters Award to Doris Leatherman on October 6, 2016 at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. The Maybelle Peters Award is the most prestigious award a Grand View Health volunteer can receive. The award is named in memory of Maybelle Peters, the late wife of deceased Grand View physician Michael Peters, MD.
Leatherman has been a devoted volunteer with Grand View for more than eight years, contributing 2,700 hours of service. She currently provides support to the information desk in the hospital’s main lobby, visits with patients and greets visitors at the main entrance. Leatherman was chosen because of her willingness to help others while embodying the humble spirit of Maybelle Peters. She is known for being respectful and kind, especially to visitors who appear stressed about following directions.
Grand View Health congratulates Doris Leatherman for her ongoing commitment as a dedicated volunteer. To learn more about Grand View Health Volunteer Services, go to gvh.org/volunteering.
