The Grand View Auxiliary presented Grand View Health a gift in the amount of $165,000 toward the five million dollar Well into the Future capital campaign, during the Auxiliary’s Annual Meeting held June 4 at Rising Sun Inn. Accepting the gift on behalf of Grand View Health Foundation was Brian Finestein, VP of Physician Practices.

The Grand View Auxiliary also presented Grand View Hospice with a gift of $5,816.00. The funds were raised by The God Box performance, presented by Mary Lou Quinlan. Accepting the gift on behalf of Hospice was Carol Halcovage, Hospice Manager.

Auxiliary members hold a variety of events throughout the year and participate in fundraising activities including: the Festival of Lights, a fashion show, raffles, the Annual Auxiliary Golf Tournament, Breakfast with Santa and also the Easter Bunny, the Recovery Room Thrift Shop, Corner Cupboard Gift Shop and many other activities.

The Auxiliary installed three board officers: Treasurer, Mary Ann Bardman; Assistant Treasurer, Penny Markley; and Recording Secretary, Marge Fitzgerald.

Elizabeth (Ebby) Schirmer was selected to receive the Auxilian of the Year Award. Ebby has been chairing the Legislative Committee, and she spends many hours scheduling volunteer help at The Recovery Room Thrift Shop. Ebby also helped make the Lawn Fete a success for many years, and she has been a valuable asset to the Auxiliary throughout her years of service. Ebby received flowers and a commemorative plaque presented by Barb Matkowski, Auxiliary President.

Kevin Fair was the recipient of the 2015 VolunTeen of the Year Award. He is a senior at Pennridge High School and has accrued 107 hours of service in approximately 2 years. The Auxiliary also awarded $4,000 in scholarships to Grand View employees.

The Auxiliary supports Grand View’s efforts throughout the community by raising funds to ensure the hospital is able to continue its mission of making quality health care available to area residents.
