Grand View Health announced Nicholas Mulhollen, RN, as the recipient of the 2016 Ellis Greenspan Memorial Award. Mulhollen, who joined Grand View in 2013, is a registered nurse on the medical surgical oncology floor.
The award was established in memory of Ellis Greenspan by his son, Mitchell M. Greenspan, MD, a cardiologist, and other members of the family. It is presented annually to recognize a registered or licensed practical nurse at Grand View who serves as a role model of nursing professionalism and delivers excellence in patient care. Compassion, understanding and exceptional communication skills are among the nomination criteria. Mulhollen was nominated by his co-workers.
Other nominees for the 2016 Ellis Greenspan Memorial Award included: Andrea Ash, intensive care unit; Cheryl Hunsberger, progressive care unit; Laurie McLaughlin, Department of Emergency Medicine; Stephanie Batcsics, acute rehabilitation unit; Amanda Beckenbaugh, progressive care unit; Kimberly Davies, progressive care unit; Bernadette Sheva, intensive care unit; Rebecca Wisler, progressive care unit.
Mulhollen and the other nominees were recognized at a special ceremony held on Tuesday, May 3, attended by Dr. Greenspan, physicians and staff and other members of the Grand View community. Patients and their families, as well as Grand View staff and physicians, make nominations for the Greenspan award each spring.
