VOLUNTEERING—A Gift of Your Time
Join the Grand View Volunteer Team and Make a Difference

At Grand View Hospital, volunteers are an essential part of our health-care team. The Volunteer Department provides the hospital with capable, dependable and trained volunteers to assist hospital staff with serving patients, their families and visitors. Our Volunteers put in more than 48,000 hours a year and provide support to 40 departments.

Volunteering not only helps Grand View, but also benefits you. It offers you the chance to change people’s lives, including your own. It is an excellent way to meet new people and use your existing skills or develop new ones to help others. Giving your time and talents can lift your spirits and make a difference in someone’s life.

Grand View Offers Exciting Volunteer Opportunities

Adult Volunteers (18 years and older)
Volunteers assist in fulfilling the needs of patients and lend our staff a hand. Whether you give your time and talents monthly or weekly, your contribution is appreciated. Some areas where you can make a difference include:

  • Patient Support
    Volunteers aid patients on nursing, surgical and emergency units by making beds, handing out beverages and transporting patients to therapy.
  • Patient Comfort/Entertainment
    Volunteers serve in areas such as hair care, chaplaincy, library services and with therapy dogs.
  • Non-Patient Support
    Volunteers assist staff with computer, clerical and organizational tasks.
  • Customer Service
    Volunteers operate our information desk and golf cart transportation between the parking lot and hospital. They work in the gift shop and assist with patient concerns.

VolunTeens (must be at least 14 years old)
The VolunTeen program at Grand View provides hands-on volunteer experiences for teens to become familiar with the hospital setting and assist our staff. VolunTeens work on Saturday mornings throughout the year and Monday through Friday during summer vacation.

  • Saturday Morning Program
    VolunTeens complete a variety of tasks, such as transporting patients, staffing the information desks and aiding patients.
  • Summer Program
    VolunTeens are assigned to a specific department to help with its needs.

(Published June 12, 2006) Grand View Hospital Auxiliary president Charlotte Shuletsky presented Grand View CEO Stuart Fine with a check for $200,000 at the Auxiliary’s Annual Meeting on June 1 at the Bay Pony Inn, Lederach. The check was the largest gift the Auxiliary has ever made to the Hospital and was the third installment payment on the Auxiliary’s pledge of $750,000 to the Grand View Health Foundation’s Expanding The Vision campaign.

The Grand View Hospital Auxiliary
The Grand View Hospital Auxiliary membership is composed of a broad-based group of folks (men and women) from the community who have a variety of interests and talents. These individual talents are recognized and used within committees of the member's choice for Auxiliary projects.

The Auxiliary’s Purpose is to assist in public relations and fund-raising for Grand View Hospital

The Auxiliary’s Goal is to annually pledge a sum of money to be used to benefit a specific hospital program of the Auxiliary's choice

Public Relations activities for children of hospital staff and community include:

  • Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
  • Breakfast with Santa Claus

Community Activities include:

  • Scholarships for Healthcare Workers
  • Health Promotion and Wellness Program Support

Fund-raising Activities include:

  • The Festival of Lights—A memorial program honoring loved ones Grand View Hospital's Gift Shop Annual Charity Ball Annual Golf Tournament Mother's Day geranium sale
  • Excursions to places of interest
