Pastoral Care

Grand View Hospital provides compassionate, spiritual and emotional support for patients and their families during times of illness through the Pastoral Care Department. A full-time Chaplain is on staff to direct 32 volunteer chaplains (17 clergy and 15 lay volunteer chaplains). They visit patients regularly and function together, along with physicians, nurses and other healthcare staff as part of a team dedicated to holistic patient care. They provide spiritual care by being with patients to listen, to empathize where possible, to comfort, to pray with them or just "be there" during a lonely time. Pastoral Care at Grand View Hospital is interfaith in approach and sensitive to the diversity of religious expression. The Pastoral Care Department notifies the patient´s clergy of their admission, offers a devotional booklet, provides Sunday worship services and daily brief videotaped devotions which are broadcast into the patient rooms.
