Grand View Hospital Presents Fifth Annual
David M. Flowers, MD Award for Excellence in Cardiology

(Published March 13, 2008) – Grand View Hospital recently presented the fifth annual David M. Flowers, MD Award for Excellence in Cardiology to Denise Kistler, RN, stroke coordinator at Grand View Hospital, during a special ceremony held at Revivals Restaurant in Perkasie.

The Grand View Hospital Board of Trustees established the “David M. Flowers, MD Award for Excellence in Cardiology” in 2003 as a tribute to the late David M. Flowers, MD, who died of cancer at age 48.  He was an associate of Buxmont Cardiology in Sellersville and affiliated with Grand View Hospital for many years.

Dr. Flowers desired to have a living memorial established through which the hospital family could celebrate a Grand View employee’s commitment to excellence in the provision of cardiac care or related services.

The award is presented to hospital staff members who exhibit the greatest commitment to excellence in his or her administration of cardiac care or related services for patients of Grand View Hospital.  It is intended to forever inspire caregivers who share the commitment to excellence and dedication to patient care and community service for which Dr. Flowers was so highly regarded.

A staff member who nominated Kistler said, “She has found a way to satisfy departmental needs while adhering to standards and treating each concern as if it were her only concern.”

“It is an honor to win this award in memory of Dr. Flowers,” said Kistler.  “I am pleased that Grand View’s stroke center has been recognized for the outstanding care we provide to our patients and our community.”
