Grand View Hospital Enhances its CARE Clinic Outreach

(Published February 26, 2008) – On Monday, February 4, Verizon representatives presented Grand View Hospital with a $20,000 grant from Verizon Foundation to help enhance the outreach of its Child Abuse Referral and Evaluation (CARE) Clinic.

Grand View Hospital in cooperation with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia established the CARE Clinic, which opened in October, and provides physical evaluation and emotional support to children who are possible victims of sexual assault.

The CARE clinic at Grand View Hospital is led by pediatrician Laura Brennan, MD of Children’s Hospital. Dr. Brennan has years of experience in caring for child victims at the CARE Clinic at CHOP.

In addition to Dr. Brennan, an experienced nurse and social worker provide children with care and support. Both have received specialized training in addressing the particular needs of child victims. The staff of the CARE Clinic at Grand View Hospital sees patients on the first and third Mondays of every month in a private and safe setting. Appointments may be made by calling 866-273-0924.
