Greenspan, MD, Buxmont Cardiology Associates gave a reflection on what Dr. Flowers meant to the hospital and community.

The Grand View Hospital Board of Trustees established the “David M. Flowers, MD Award for Excellence in Cardiology” in 2003 as a tribute to the late David M. Flowers, MD, who died of cancer at age 49. He was an associate of Buxmont Cardiology in Sellersville and affiliated with Grand View Hospital for many years.

Dr. Flowers desired to have a living memorial established through which the hospital family could celebrate a Grand View employee’s commitment to excellence in the provision of cardiac care or related services.

The award is presented to hospital staff members who exhibit the greatest commitment to excellence in his or her administration of cardiac care or related services for patients of Grand View Hospital. It is intended to forever inspire caregivers who share the commitment to excellence and dedication to patient care and community service for which Dr. Flowers was so highly regarded.

Carol Knauff, Clinical Educator in the Nursing Education Department, was recognized for her commitment to educating and training nurses in providing quality care to patients with heart disease. Carol has been employed at Grand View since 1980 and is always holding educational programs for nursing staff on advances in cardiac care.

A staff member who nominated her said, “Carol is known for her hallway consultations. She can walk through ICCU and nurses will ask her questions regarding new cardiac drugs or a patient’s problem. Carol is never too busy for this kind of teaching”

Carol makes her home in Green Lane. She and her husband Bill have one daughter.

Cindy Limbert, Division Manager in Nursing Administration was recognized for her commitment to excellence in nursing which has impacted many patients’ lives in positive ways. This past year she has extended that dedication to the community by assisting in the implementation of the cardiac cath lab.

Someone who nominated her said “the completion of the cardiac cath lab was due in part to Cindy’s hard work and commitment to enhance the depth of cardiology services being provided at Grand View Hospital.”
