Faith Based Nursing
Mission Statement
The Faith Community Nursing Program at Grand View Hospital serves as an outreach to the community by assisting faith communities in developing health ministries. The program’s goal is to offer continuing education, support and guidance to healthcare professionals and their faith communities. The program will facilitate faith community nursing programs by assisting congregations in setting up health ministry goals and step-by-step procedures to develop their program, help with connecting to local human service resources and supporting the performance of community health assessment techniques.
What is a Faith Community Nurse?
Faith Community nursing is an extension of community health nursing which reaches out to people in their faith communities. Faith Community nurses are not home care nurses; they serve as health educators, personal health counselors, patient advocates and as the eyes and ears of the hospital and physicians to ensure that all patients understand and follow their instructions. Most importantly, they integrate the concepts of physical, emotional and spiritual health to enrich the lives of their communities.
