Post Operative Ileus:
A phase III, double-blind, randomized parallel-group, placebo controlled study of intravenous (IV) Methylnaltrexone Bromide ( MNTX) in the treatment of post-operative ileus ( POI). The purpose of the study is to test the hypothesis: In patients who have undergone segmental colectomy the time between the end of surgery and first bowel movement is significantly shorter in a MNTX regimen that it is using a placebo regimen.
