Modern Treatment Facilities

Grand View offers technologically advanced facilities with treatments that maximize effectiveness while minimizing side effects. The latest radiation oncology services are available at two convenient locations: Grand View Hospital, located on Lawn Avenue, just off Route 309 in West Rockhill Township and the High Point Cancer Center in New Britain Township.

Both sites are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment enabling radiation oncologists to treat deep-seated cancers such as lung, prostate, breast and colorectal tumors. Using advanced treatment-planning computers and high-energy linear accelerators, radiation oncologists can precisely aim radiation beams at cancers or target areas (tumor bed).

Among our newest treatment options is intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) — the newest generation of precision-targeted, radiation therapy. With IMRT, we are able to precisely deliver a high dose of radiation to the tumor, or target area, while controlling the amount of radiation delivered to normal surrounding tissues and organs. By sparing the normal tissue, we can reduce the severity of side effects from radiation treatment.

Grand View’s radiation oncologists also use radioactive seed implants, or brachytherapy, to treat men with prostate cancer. Radioactive seeds are permanently placed in the prostate. These seeds deliver a low but steady dose of radiation to the prostate gland for several months with little effect on surrounding normal tissues.
