Patient Care Services
Perinatology
Perinatologists are now on the medical staff at Grand View Hospital to address the special needs of women whose pregnancy is deemed high-risk. A high-risk pregnancy involves an older pregnant woman, some pregnant teenagers, women with medical complications or a woman expecting more than one baby.
The special testing performed by the perinatologists includes amniocentisis, genetic testing, counseling, ultrasounds and more. Such tests can provide valuable information concerning the health of mother and baby.
These services are not limited to just those who intend to deliver at Grand View, but to anyone in the community needing such services. Preparing to become parents can be a stressful time. Add the potential of a high-risk pregnancy and having to travel far from home and the level of stress increases. By offering these services in the comfortable and familiar setting of Grand View, patients can access the same specialty services they need conveniently-close to home.
Perinatology services are offered only through physician referral. For further information regarding these services, please contact your physician.
Healthy Beginnings Plus
Healthy Beginnings Plus is Pennsylvania's effort to assist low-income, pregnant women, eligible for Medical Assistance to have a positive prenatal care experience. HBP offers pregnant women more services than the traditional Medical Assistance program.
Pregnant women with family incomes up to 185% of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible. Participation in HBP is optional. A woman may elect to use the traditional Medical Assistance plan.
For more information, please contact Healthy Beginnings Plus at 215-453-4077.
Maternal/Newborn Home Nursing
Grand View's Home Care department employs specially-trained maternal/newborn nurses to visit new mothers and babies at home after discharge from the hospital. The nurse assesses the condition of both mom and baby and instructs parents in proper infant care. If ordered by the physician, home phototherapy can be provided to the infant experiencing jaundice.
