Labor & Birth Preparation
Programs for Expectant Parents and Their Families
Pregnancy is a time of anticipation, questions and excitement. Grand View Hospital offers programs to guide you through pregnancy and birth with confidence and knowledge. Classes are held at Grand View Hospital and at our Outpatient Centers in Harleysville and Pennsburg. Private sessions are arranged based on need. Early registration will allow you to fit the classes into your schedule.
Labor & Birth
Gain an understanding of the process of labor and birth while learning relaxation and breathing exercises and other ways to make yourself comfortable. The five-part labor and birth section is taught in small groups by certified childbirth educators. The important involvement of your spouse/support person is stressed throughout.
Newborn
Learn about the appearance and individuality of newborns, how to prepare for the homecoming and the first few months of parenting. During a special discussion hour, a pediatrician will answer your questions.
Expressly Yours
This complete childbirth preparation course, held on two consecutive Saturdays, emphasizes breathing techniques and coping strategies for labor and birth. Information on caring for your newborn and a tour of the Maternity Unit are included.
Our Growing Family (Refresher Series)
Refresh your knowledge of relaxation and breathing techniques, and the process of labor and birth. Join other couples to discuss life with a new family member, easing sibling adjustment and taking care of you. This series is for families who have attended a childbirth preparation course during a previous pregnancy.
Anesthesia Options
Regardless of the anticipated method of birth, the Anesthesia Department requests that patients attend this class to have a clear understanding of what is available and what is involved in receiving anesthesia. This free session helps patients understand the options available for pain management during labor and birth, including epidural and spinal anesthesia.
