Going the Extra Mile
Grand View Hospital presented Joyce Costanzo, EKG Coordinator of Cardiology, with its Excellence in Cardiology Award during a May 2005 symposium held in memory of beloved Sellersville cardiologist Dr. David M. Flowers.

The award was established in 2003 to honor Dr. Flowers, who died of cancer at age 49. He was an associate of Bux-Mont Cardiology in Sellersville and an affiliate of Grand View Hospital for many years.

Costanzo, of Quakertown, was recognized for her continual excellence in the Cardiology Department and for her strong work ethic. “She always goes the extra mile for staff members and patients,” said a co-worker who nominated her for the award.

The “Heart of Nursing”
Grand View Hospital presented its Ellis Greenspan Memorial Award to Doreen Steeley, RN, a staff nurse on the Medical/Surgical/Oncology unit.

Established by Grand View cardiologist Dr. Mitchell M. Greenspan, in memory of his father, the award recognizes Steeley for her constant compassion, care and understanding of patients and their families.

Celebrating Dedication
Grand View Hospital presented Ann Decker, of Sellersville, with the Maybelle Peters Award for outstanding volunteer service. Decker has exhibited continued dedication by serving more than 1,060 hours in the Volunteer Office during the past decade. Sponsored by Grand View cardiologist Dr. Mitchell M. Greenspan, the award honors the memory of Maybelle Peters, the late wife of deceased Grand View physician Dr. Michael Peters.

A Job Well Done
At its annual conference in May 2005, the Pennsylvania Hospice Network presented “Hospice in Partnership” awards to Grand View Hospice manager Judith Herron and volunteer Doris Vache.

Herron, of Reading, received the Nancy Bohnet Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Hospice Care, which recognizes an individual of high integrity and honesty who focuses on what is best for patients. Herron has doubled the hospice’s census and has introduced new treatment options for patients.

Vache, of Souderton, received the Heart of Hospice Award, which recognizes a volunteer who displays exemplary generosity and spirit toward the hospice community. She has contributed more than 2,600 hours of service.
