Grand View Hospital Named Best Employer for Working Parents

A ten-week summer camp
for students from Kindergarten age through sixth grade; holiday drop-in care; and day care for school-age children in inclement weather were among the reasons that Grand View Hospital was honored with a Best Employer for Working Parents Award by the Delaware Valley Child Care Council. The annual award recognizes leadership in creating family-supportive working environments by major employers in a three-state region covering Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware counties in Pennsylvania as well as parts of New Jersey and Delaware.

To achieve this honor, organizations must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to a better workplace for parents through the development and implementation of family-directed benefits, including innovative child care programs. The employer must also show a commitment to family-friendly programs for all parents in need of services, regardless of the employees’ position in the organization. Award-winning institutions then serve as models for other employers throughout the region to encourage development of similar benefit programs and services.

Flexible, affordable, child care was initiated at Grand View more than 20 years ago, long before it became common for some organizations to offer such services to employees. Due to the Children’s Center location on the Grand View Hospital campus, employees can focus on their professional duties secure in the knowledge that their children are nearby, and are being safely looked after by caring professionals.

Grand View Hospital has fully recognized and responded to the challenges faced by some employees in securing affordable, flexible day care. At times, hospital employees must work varying schedules in order to fulfill professional responsibilities. When hospital duties require parents to begin work earlier, or remain later, than initially expected, or even attend an in-service for part of the day, the Center welcomes their children on short notice.

The Grand View Advantage
Grand View Hospital was recognized as one of the Best Employers for Working Parents in part due to these initiatives:
  • Flexible, family-friendly work schedules
  • On-site day care in a childcare facility staffed by highly qualified childcare professionals
  • Age-specific childcare programs
  • Certified Kindergarten program
  • Ten-week summer day camp
  • Holiday drop-in day care
  • Inclement weather drop-in day care
  • Sick child day care program
