To ensure a safe environment for our patients, visitors and staff, we require background clearances and health screenings for all members of the Grand View Hospital workforce, including students completing a clinical rotation or internship. Please note that payment for required items is the student's/the school's responsibility. The student is encouraged to investigate whether the health screenings items are offered by the school's student health department and/or covered by his/her health insurance.
Prior to start at Grand View Hospital, the Student Records Verification Form
must be completed by the student and their affiliated institution and submitted to the GVH Human Resources Department 14 days prior to the start of each student placement.
Upon approval of the form, HR will contact the student to schedule an orientation. The student must provide copies of all required documentation at orientation; failure to do so will result in a delayed start. Upon completion of orientation, the student will be issued a GVH id badge and will be cleared to start the clinical rotation/internship. If an instructor will be onsite and involved in instructing students in services to Hospital patients, the instructor must comply with these requirements as well.
The following items are required for all students
- Criminal History Check for Pennsylvania
- Urine Drug Screen
- Tuberculosis Screening
- Seasonal Influenza Vaccination
- Hepatitis B Vaccination
Students who meet one or more of the following criteria need additional background clearances:
- The student will have significant likelihood of regular contact with children
- The student will be in a Home/Community-based Department
- The student has lived out of the state of Pennsylvania within the last two years
Please see the Student Toolkit for detailed information on our requirements.
