SAFE HAVEN PROGRAM FOR NEWBORNS

(Act 201 of 2002, also known asThe Newborn Protection Act, protects you from prosecution if you leave the baby at a "Safe Place")

A mother or father may leave a newborn baby up to 28 days old at Grand View Hospital. Please leave the baby inside the hospital where the newborn will be found quickly. The parent will not be criminally prosecuted as long as the baby is not a victim of child abuse or another crime. The hospital will contact Children & Youth Services to take custody of the baby. Parents do not have to provide their names or any other personal information. Any medical information about the baby is helpful. Medical attention for the mother will be provided if needed.
