Grand New Youth
A Pediatric Weight Management & Healthy Lifestyle Program
As a hospital dedicated to children's health, we know that childhood obesity is a serious health issue that may lead to significant medical problems. That's why in February 2010 Grand View opened the Grand New Youth program, a medically-supervised pediatric weight management program.
Taking the First Steps to a Healthy Weight & Lifestyle
As the only one of its kind in Bucks and Montgomery counties, Grand New Youth is designed to help children, ages four through 17, and their families address the following factors that help contribute to obesity:
The Grand New Youth Team
The Grand New Youth team provides comprehensive care for children and families who are challenged by weight-related health issues. The team, consisting of the following specialists, conduct evaluations once a month:
Grand New Youth Evaluation: Your First Visit
At the first visit, a physician will perform a comprehensive medical evaluation of the child. The evaluation includes:
- A complete physical exam
- A calculation of the child's body mass index (BMI)
- A complete review of the patient and family medical history
- Diagnostic tests to determine if weight-related complications exist
- A meeting with a registered dietitian to develop a customized nutrition plan
- An evaluation by an exercise physiologist to develop a customized activity plan
After your child's evaluation, you and your child will meet the Grand New Youth team every four weeks to monitor your child's progress.
