‘Festival of Lights’ Tree Lighting at Grand View Hospital
(December 3, 2010) Sellersville, PA – The annual ‘Festival of Lights’ began its 27th season at Grand View Hospital with a dedication ceremony and lighting of the trees in honor of loved ones on Wednesday evening, December 1. The ceremony included a reading of the names of individuals and organizations being honored or memorialized followed by the lighting of trees in the lobby and throughout the hospital campus. The audience enjoyed holiday musical selections by StillSmallVoice and Clarinetwork.

Nearly 10,000 lights illuminating the hospital and its grounds this holiday season create a fairy-tale like setting made possible by thousands of donations over the years in honor of loved ones. Red lights are used to decorate a special tree in honor of cancer survivors, while all other lights are white. A baby tree celebrating new births is filled with ornaments personalized with names of newborns and is located in the main lobby.
Anyone can participate in Festival of Lights by making a contribution to:
  • Memorialize someone special;
  • Honor a person or organization;
  • Recognize a cancer survivor; or
  • Celebrate the birth of a baby
Making a minimum $20 donation to Festival of Lights now through January 15th provides a festive way to recognize a special person or organization. In addition to having a light illuminated in their honor, the names of those recognized will be displayed throughout the year in the Auxiliary display case.

For contributions of $100 or more, the name of the honored or memorialized person will be added to the Eternal Tree plaques displayed within the hospital year-round and a light will be lit during Festival of Lights for years to come.

All funds raised by this Grand View Hospital Auxiliary event become part of a gift to support special projects at the hospital, including the emergency department renovation and expansion now underway.
