Ellis Greenspan Memorial Award Recipient Lynn Snyder, RN Announced
(May 9, 2011) Sellersville, PA – Grand View Hospital is pleased to announce Telemetry Unit charge nurse Lynn Snyder, RN, of Lansdale is the recipient of the 2011 Ellis Greenspan Memorial Award. Snyder, who cares for and monitors patients with heart conditions, has worked at the hospital her entire nursing career of 23 years. She said, “I was stunned to receive this award. I work alongside excellent nurses and believe this honor belongs to the entire Grand View Telemetry Unit.”

The award was established in memory of Ellis Greenspan by his son, cardiologist Mitchell M. Greenspan, MD and other members of the family. It is presented annually to recognize a registered or licensed practical nurse at Grand View who is a role model of nursing professionalism and delivers excellence in patient care. Compassion, understanding, and exceptional communication skills are among the nomination criteria. Snyder was nominated by an anonymous co-worker who said, “She is concerned about patient families, constantly checking up with them to see if there is anything she can do for them. Anyone who has a passion for nursing should strive to be like Lynn.”

Other nominees for the 2011 Ellis Greenspan Memorial Award include: Donna Eisenhart, Maternity; Marlissa Grasse, Emergency Department; Barbara Grubb, Cardiac Rehab; Bernadette Sheva, ICCU; and Erika Sommer-Gagliano, Surgical Services. Snyder and the other nominees were recognized at a special ceremony held on May 4th attended by Dr. Greenspan and his mother, physicians and staff, and other members of the Grand View community. Patients and their families as well as Grand View staff and physicians make nominations for the Greenspan award each spring.
