Pennridge Graduate Receives VolunTeen of the Year Award
(June 29, 2011) Sellersville, PA – Grand View Hospital Auxiliary awarded Carol Anne Patton of Sellersville with the VolunTeen of the Year Award for her commitment, dedication, and positive attitude as a teen volunteer. Carol Anne completed 565 hours of service at the hospital over a four-year period.

“Carol Anne’s contribution is outstanding, showing her commitment to serve others,” remarked Grand View’s manager of volunteer services Caroll Clymer. A selection panel comprising members of the Grand View Hospital Auxiliary selected Carol Anne to receive the award. “She has a heart for the patients and truly cares for them,” Clymer said.

The Pennridge High School Class of 2011 graduate will receive a $200 scholarship from the Auxiliary. She plans to attend Gwynedd Mercy to study nursing, an interest sparked by her mother who is a nurse at Grand View Hospital.

About the VolunTeen Program
Grand View’s VolunTeen program is for teenagers who are at least 14 years old. It provides them with hands-on volunteer experience and familiarity with the hospital setting. In a Saturday morning program that runs year-round VolunTeens complete a variety of tasks such as manning information desks, aiding patients, and assisting staff in various departments. In a summer program held on Mondays through Fridays VolunTeens are assigned to a specific department to help staff with tasks and projects.
