Grand View Hospital Auxiliary Presents over $130,000 in Gifts Honors Volunteers, Installs Officers, and Awards Scholarships
|The Grand View Hospital Auxiliary presented the hospital with an annual gift in the amount of $125,000 to benefit the renovation of the Telemetry Unit during its annual meeting held on June 11. The Auxiliary made an additional gift in the amount of $6,000 to Grand View’s Hospice program.
Accepting the gifts on behalf of the hospital was Mark Horne, COO, who thanked the auxiliary for their dedication, hard work, and support. “At a time when many hospital auxiliaries are struggling because of declining membership, our auxiliary is thriving,” said Horne. “We have great leadership and a committed group who think innovatively to raise funds to support Grand View Hospital.”
Auxiliary members hold a variety of events throughout the year and participate in fundraising activities including: the Festival of Lights; a fashion show; geranium sales; Corner Cupboard Gift Shop; the Recovery Room Thrift Shop; the annual Auxiliary Golf Tournament; raffles; and many other activities.
At its annual meeting, the Auxiliary recognized the immediate past President of the Auxiliary and Chairperson of the Centennial Ball committee Darlene Leidy as 2013 Auxilian of the Year for making considerable contributions to the Auxiliary and bringing new and unique fundraising ideas.
The Auxiliary installed the following board officers:

- Vice President – Barbara Matkowski
- Treasurer – Mary Ann Bardman
- Assistant Treasurer – Penny Markley
- Recording Secretary – Marge Fitzgerald
- Corresponding Secretary – Martha Otto

|Also at the meeting, the Auxiliary awarded more than $3,000 in scholarships to Grand View employees and VolunTeens. Ridge Schultz and Tyler Kemp were named recipients of the VolunTeen of the Year Award 2013. Schultz, a senior at Souderton High School accrued 256 hours of service at the hospital and is seriously considering a career in emergency medicine. Kemp, a senior graduating from a homeschool program has accrued 166 hours of volunteer service and is considering a career as a chiropractor or physical therapist.
The Auxiliary supports Grand View’s efforts throughout the community by raising funds to ensure that the hospital is able to continue its mission of making quality health care available to area residents.
