Grand View Hospital Presents “Love Award”
(January 03, 2013) Sellersville, PA – Grand View Hospital recently presented Rodney Velarde of Telford with the LOVE (Life of Volunteer Excellence) award. Rodney has been part of Grand View Hospital’s volunteer program since 1996, contributing over 3,400 hours of service.

Rodney’s niece worked at Grand View and asked him to help the Industrial Medicine Department with data entry. Along with his excellent computer skills, Rodney is fluent in Spanish and was able to assist the Industrial Medicine clients who weren’t fluent in English. His flexibility and interest in pursuing new challenges eventually led him to support Health Promotion and Wellness and NIV with computer support.

In addition to his diligent work ethic, Rodney is a process improvement guru, who continuously offers suggestions that have increased workflow and department efficiency. He is the kind of person others enjoy working alongside. Rodney is always willing to assist staff with projects, and takes the initiative to help others.

Since he wore glasses, he couldn’t pursue a career as a pilot, so his career path took him into the aerospace business where he spent 30 years facing challenges and developing solutions as the industry expanded. He is a natural for developing improvements.

In their spare time, Rodney and his wife Sandy, enjoy listening to music, watching TV, traveling, and going out to eat.
