Grand View Receives Donation from Pallisades Girl Scouts for Hospitalized Children
(October 11, 2011) Sellersville, PA – Girl Scout Troop 21286 donated 30 gift boxes filled with small toys and fun activities designed to lift the spirits of children hospitalized in Grand View Hospital’s pediatrics unit.

Known as a Jared Box, each plastic shoebox-size container includes an assortment of small gifts such as cards, games, puzzles, markers, crayons, stickers, and other fun activities. “The kids love them. They are much appreciated,” said Grand View’s clinical coordinator of pediatrics Kathleen Pecca, RN.

The junior level scouts are students at Palisades Middle School and assembled the fun-filled boxes as a community service project for their Bronze Award. Scout Tia Venne said, “I was in the hospital before and it can be a boring place for kids. These fun things will keep them busy.” Scout Bronwyn S. added, “Tinicum Elementary School helped out by giving items that we packed in the Jared Boxes. It was a lot of fun.”
