Auxiliary Golf Tournament Raises $30,000 for Grand View Hospital Neonatal Care
(June 8, 2012) SELLERSVILLE, Pa – Rain drops gave way to sunny skies just in time as golfers headed to their first green at Grand View Hospital Auxiliary’s 39th Annual Golf Tournament held on June 1 at Lederach Golf Club.  Jointly sponsored by Univest and Sodexo, the tournament raised an estimated $30,000 with proceeds going toward the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Grand View’s NICU opened earlier this year and is in affiliation with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).  It offers round-the-clock coverage by CHOP neonatologists for premature and ill newborns needing special care right after birth.

The tournament hosted 97 golfers including business professionals, physicians, employees, friends, and supporters of the hospital.   Long-time Auxilian and event chair Martha Otto said, “Along with Lederach Golf Club, we thank our many sponsors and patrons for their continued support of Grand View.” Participants enjoyed a hearty luncheon prepared by Outback Steakhouse of Montgomeryville and a sumptuous dinner of beef tenderloin and salmon prepared by Leddy’s Pub. Otto added, “This is always a great event.  In fact, we’re already planning next year’s, which will be the Auxiliary’s 40th Annual Tournament and the hospital’s 100th anniversary.”

The tournament’s winning foursome of Gordon Hickman, Ken Mangin, Robert Ockenfuss, and Chris Moyer finished well under par with a score of 59.  Ted Hohnstock of Jamison shot a hole-in-one on the par three 16th hole, winning a vacation trip and a set of clubs.  Grand View employee Dan Kees of Sellersville was the top qualifier earning an opportunity to compete in an exciting putting contest, but fell short of winning the $5,000 prize.
