GVH recently presented Ferne Fite of Pennsburg with the LOVE (Life of Volunteer Excellence) award
(April 18, 2012) Sellersville, PA – Grand View Hospital recently presented Ferne Fite of Pennsburg with the LOVE (Life of Volunteer Excellence) award. Ferne has been part of Grand View Hospital’s volunteer program since 1999, contributing over 3,000 hours of service.

After retiring Ferne discovered she had extra time on her hands. She was drawn to the hospital because she’d always wanted to be a nurse and enjoys being around people. According to Janice Hunsberger, Joint Center Coordinator, Ferne has been helpful in problem-solving as the staff worked through the initial preadmission program process. She is known for her kindness and sense of humor as she interests with others.

When serving at the Information Desk, Ferne is professional and helpful. She is a volunteer who makes a difference. When faced with a question, she goes the extra mile to get answers for visitors and patients. She is resourceful and genuinely kind.

Ferne is an avid sports fan, enjoying basketball, baseball, hockey, and football. Other enjoyable pastimes are fishing, snorkeling, and spending time at the sea shore. She also enjoys traveling. Cruising to Alaska and visiting Singapore were among her favorite trips.
