(March 10, 2010) Sellersville, PA – Grand View Hospital has been selected to host the Hospice Foundation of America’s 17th Annual Living with Grief® Teleconference on Cancer and End-of-Life Care. The national teleconference will be held on Wednesday, March 24 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at Grand View’s Community Education Center, and is open to health-care professionals such as doctors, nurses, educators, social workers, and counselors, as well as families affected by cancer and end-of-life care issues. Topics that will be addressed include:

• Care options related to cancer diagnoses
• Loss and grief reactions for patients, families, and professional caregivers
• Psychosocial aspects of cancer, pain management, and ethical issues related to the disease

The program will be moderated by Frank Sesno, Director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University and will feature a panel of speakers on the subject. Reaching an estimated 125,000 people, the teleconference allows families to better understand end-of-life care options and also provides an opportunity for a wide-range of health-care professionals to share and exchange ideas and obtain continuing education units (CEUs).

The teleconference is produced by Hospice Foundation of America, a not-for-profit organization, which acts as an advocate for the hospice concept of care through ongoing programs of professional education, public information and research on issues relating to illness, loss, grief and bereavement.
