Grand View Hospital Staff Attends Homeland Security Training
(March 19, 2010) Sellersville, PA – Emergency responders from Grand View Hospital recently completed Homeland Security training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), located in Anniston, Alabama. “This was the most realistic training I have ever experienced,” stated Grand View Hospital Emergency Management Coordinator Sally Schulberger. Schulberger and six of her colleagues completed the 32-hour Healthcare Leadership program which focuses on disaster preparedness, protection, and response.

The former Noble Army Hospital in Anniston was converted into a training site for health and medical education in disasters, to include both acts of terrorism and man-made disasters. Noble Training Hospital is the only hospital facility in the United States dedicated to training hospital and healthcare professionals in disaster preparedness and response.

Training at the CDP ensures that responders gain critical skills and confidence to be better prepared to effectively respond to local disasters or potential terrorist incidents. “We are where people will go during disasters,” said Dr. Martin Zurmuhl, DEM Physician. “It’s good to know that the government is on top of this and assisting hospitals to be better prepared.”
