From Birth Record to Record Book

AP/Marcio Jose Sanchez

One of Grand View's own, Jamie Moyer, became the oldest pitcher to ever win a major league baseball game. Pitching for the Colorado Rockies, Jamie was called in to close a game last Tuesday against the San Diego Padres.  His solid play over seven innings led the Rockies to a 5–3 win.  With each new game played, Moyer has an opportunity to break his own record.

A former Phillie, Moyer was born at Grand View Hospital 49 years ago.  His mother, Joan Moyer, is a long-time volunteer at Grand View, and a baby cuddler in the hospital’s maternity department.  “We are just so happy for him,” said Joan of Jamie’s accomplishment.  “He’s still the same kid that left us to play baseball all those years ago.”
