Grand View Maternal-Newborn Home Care Program
This program addresses problems the mother or the baby may experience after childbirth and promptly informs their physician. A maternity home care nurse visits a mother and baby at home after discharge from the hospital. One or two routine well baby and well mother visits are generally provided. Part-time intermittent visits by registered nurses provide:
- Physical assessments of mother and baby
- Instructions regarding self and infant care
- Emotional support
- Community referrals, if needed
- Drawing lab studies, when ordered by physician
- Communications between home care nurse and physician
- Infant nutrition evaluation
- Home phototherapy for jaundice as ordered by the physician
- Lactation consultations
Referrals
Maternal-Newborn Home Care services are available to all maternity patients including those who have delivered at facilities other than Grand View Hospital. Once orders are received from the physician, the nurse will coordinate each patient's plan of care.
Payment For Services
Many health insurance programs, Medical Assistance and other insurers provide coverage for the services of the Community Nurse-Home Care Department. For your convenience, our home care staff can provide direct billing to your insurer for services rendered. As is the policy for all Grand View Hospital services, patients in need of services are not denied care due to an inability to pay.
