- External Beam Radiation Therapy
EBRT delivers a beam of high-energy X-rays to the location of a tumor. The beam is generated outside the patient.
- Image-Guided Radiation Therapy
IGRT is an external radiation therapy that accounts for the fact that tumors can move slightly in the body-both during a radiation treatment session and between treatment sessions.
- Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy
IMRT is an external radiation therapy that allows for "sculpting" radiation beams to the specific shape and contour of a tumor-sparing adjacent healthy tissue from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiation
In 3-D conformal radiation therapy, computer simulation produces an accurate image of a tumor and surrounding organs so multiple radiation beams can be shaped exactly to the contour of the treatment area.
