The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Grand View Hospital

The Grand View Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to strengthen your heart while you develop healthy habits to enhance your quality of life. Grand View's cardiac care-trained rehabilitation staff works under the direction of your cardiologist or family doctor. The program located at the Grand View Outpatient Center at Sellersville combines a pleasant environment, up-to-date fitness equipment, and a staff trained in cardiac care.

A Custom Rehabilitation Program
The Cardiac Rehabilitation staff will develop a plan tailored to your particular needs and abilities whether you are recovering from a heart attack, coronary angioplasty or coronary bypass surgery, or if you have coronary disease. Your custom rehabilitation plan includes:

  • Progressive aerobic exercise
  • Education regarding recovery and heart-healthy living
  • Lifestyle modification counseling
  • Exercise monitoring by staff trained in cardiac care
  • Dietary consults for you and your family

You can expect to exercise two to three times a week for six to 12 weeks based on your medical needs. To ensure your safety, our staff continually monitors your heart rate, heart rhythm, and blood pressure while steadily building your endurance. We work with you to enhance your strength, stamina, circulation, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. As you progress, we will provide your physician with ongoing status reports.

Medicare, Medical Assistance, and most major insurance companies cover all or part of the cost for participants who qualify for Grand View's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. We encourage you to contact your insurance company for information regarding coverage by your specific plan.

Variety of Fitness Equipment
Grand View Hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program includes many pieces of equipment designed for middle-aged and older adults.

  • Elliptical machines
  • Treadmills
  • Upright stationary bikes
  • Recumbent stationary bikes
  • NuStep, a recumbent cross-trainer
  • Upper-body ergometer
  • Complete strength-training equipment
  • Exercise balls

To maintain your fitness, you may continue to use our fitness equipment and work out under the supervision of our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program staff by enrolling in our Lifestyle Fitness Program.

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Rehabilitation Program
PAD, a slowing or stopping of the normal flow of bloods to the legs, causes pain in the muscles of your legs and increases your risk for heart attack and stroke. Grand View offers treatment to reduce symptoms and prevent further progression of the disease. To slow or even reverse PAD and its symptoms, treatment includes:

  • Lifestyle changes
  • Exercise
  • Medications that lower cholesterol or control high blood pressure and prevent plaque build-up

In extreme cases, surgery is required to remove blockages from arteries or to bypass the clogged area.
